Fred Ruth graduated from Smithfield High School in Smithfield, Ohio, where he participated in band, boys basketball, baseball, drama club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He attended the University of Mount Union where he received a BA in Music Education. He was hired by Warren in 1975 where he taught until his retirement in 2002. Even after his retirement from teaching, he continued his employment with the district as Athletic Event Coordinator/Athletic Director until 2013.
